Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bilge Selçuk was born in 1971 in Ankara. After graduating from TED Ankara High School, she completed her bachelors and master’s degrees both in Middle East Technical University with honors. Selçuk received her PhD in developmental psychology with a scholarship in Melbourne University Psychology and Behavioral Sciences department. During her PhD studies, she worked with Prof. Ann Sanson, who was the director of Australian Family Studies Institute and one of the head of researchers of Australian Temperament Project. The project was the longitudinal observation of more than 2400 infants developmental and psychological health’s for 35 years and Selçuk have contributed to the project as research assistant for 5 years.

Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bilge Selçuk is a professor at Koç University since 2003. She conducts her research in Child and Family Studies Laboratory, which she is the director of, and focuses on human development and psychology and related topics assessed by professionals in the field both local and international. Selçuk’s area of expertise are; parenthood, child temperament, parent-child relationship, social and emotional development in children and children/adolescent psychopathology. Due to her work in these areas she was given the Honorary Senior Researcher title by the Queensland University in 2015.

Ayşe Bilge Selçuk has 70 articles and book chapters, 80 journal and newspaper writing, more than 200 congress statements published in prestigious scientific journals. Her research is published not only in Turkey but also in foreign media such as ZDF, SBS, CNN and The Guardian. Selçuk is also the editor of the book “Mother-Father: Concept and Research” and will be publishing her new book “Proper parenting in regard with child temperament” in fall 2019.

Aside from her academic career, Ayşe Bilge Selçuk works with parents as developmental psychologist and parenting psychologist at Korto Psychology – Nişantaşı.  She provides counselling to parents regarding the topics related with children and adolescents.
